And we heard nothing while the world changed

A collection of totally biased self centered stuff, accumulated since 1999 by Iphigenie aka Superiphi aka Joelle Nebbe-Mornod, old style netizen, reader, gamer, walker, photographer, web architect, technology executive, and constantly curious mind

news

random news about the site and all sorts of things

the site finally gets a bit of love

Even though only 4 (oh, no, it’s 5 now!! a 25% increase!) people read this blog, I have been bothered from the fact that so many bits of it had to be dropped when i swapped from pmachine to expression engine.  So I have finally spent some time on it - expect things to improve some more smile

* re-establish comments
* fixed broken image links

* tidy the design a bit

Sites I read - challenge and inspiration

I won’t list the purely technical or business websites I read for work

Read for thought and inspiration

* Edge http://www.edge.org/ - science and thinking, often away from the mainstream

* The Endicott Studio Journal of Mythic Arts http://endicottstudio.typepad.com/ - Myth and folklore is one of my fields of interest and this site covers all forms of art and research around the topic.

* overcoming bias http://www.overcomingbias.com/ - about the many forms of bias in psychology, science, business, debate, research etc etc etc.

* the road to the horizon http://theroadtothehorizon.blogspot.com/ - the journal of an aid worker

* Schneier on Security http://www.schneier.com/blog/

* donation coder http://www.donationcoder.com/ - around donationware, shareware, freeware - a nice community of developers and users who like to try, use, review and create software. Friendly community with a system of microdonations for contributors of software or review or anything else.

site updates

I have upgraded to full Expression Engine so maybe one day I will start using the advanced features…

In the meantime I have finally fixed the archive, cleaned up a little, and I’m going to see if i can reenable memberships and comments

why is it so hard to keep stuff updated

It used to be I would keep this site updated quite often - both games i was watching, films I’d seen, books, photography, all sorts of things… It got so big i spun off both some of the “site find” and the “opinion and musings” section to separate blogs.

On top of that i used to have an imdb list of films, several forums I participated in, and on and on

Now I spend a lot of time reading some fascinating blogs, but I never seem to get around to writing. Even on a rattling place like this one…

I think it all got lost when i gave far too much to the company I had created - stopped seeing people, stopped having hobbies - not the first time this has happened, I did it when studying as well.

I am not sure where the time is going instead, i certainly dont feel more productive :S Maybe I am reclaiming the right to be idle first

I also guess I need to rebuild a social life first too, so writing alone at the computer sure doesnt appeal.

Change of direction

One thing I stayed away from on this little site is talking about work, technology, politics, opinion etc. I just focused on games, books, films and other lifestyle things.

I started another blog and I think it’s pointless - so my rants about the news and whatnot will all start coming here.

On my opera blog:

* pictures of bunnies and ducklings
* some finds in photography and art
* my own photos, so far only really old ones
* some cultural links and feeds
* shopaholic moments: cool t shirts and cool laptop bags

Check it out

Too much stuff

I have too much stuff that i want to put on this site, but I don’t to avoid “diluting” what I put too much. After all if every day you put a mix of technology, business, games, literature, visual arts, photography, science, culture, news, web communities, programming, software, lifestyle… what you get in the end is actually white noise.

Besides, I want to try different blogging platforms, so for now I have started moving photography and culture to a new page on the my.opera platform.
